Word of the Week: Smorgasbord

I love this word. I may like it even more because I'm hungry right now, but it's still a great word. A smorgasbord is basically a lunch or dinner buffet. It must have variety and it must be a LARGE amount of food! Usually the offerings are both hot and cold as well. Of course, smorgasbord can be used to refer to any large variety such as genres on an album, clothes on a display, plants in a garden... but only when referencing food is the usage closest to its Swedish origin. Though the concept received international attention at the 1939 World's Fair in New York City, the tradition of these celebratory feasts harks back several centuries.

The next time you're having this kind of party, let me know!
