Word of the Week: Compurgator

A compurgator is a sworn witness to the innocence and good character of an accused person.

Use your voice to stand in solidarity. True dismantling of unjust social structures does not mean 'bring whites down' it means raise everyone to the freedoms whites know are not available to all. If you can recognize the many strata to your societal privileges you can understand that though many people feel trapped or marginalized not all marginalization is enforced and perpetuated by tyrants and their armed bullies.

----

To quote part of Langston Hughes's "Let America Be America Again,"

Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed— Let it be that great strong land of love Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme That any man be crushed by one above.

(It never was America to me.)

O, let my land be a land where Liberty Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath, But opportunity is real, and life is free, Equality is in the air we breathe.

(There's never been equality for me, Nor freedom in this "homeland of the free.")

----

Be a compurgator. Attest to the innocence of black people walking home. Driving. Worshiping. Breathing. Living. EXISTING.

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."
